By the time someone develops an interest in metaphysics, they have generally gone through some life-changing or consciousness-expanding experience they may not have been able to explain at the time. I suppose some people are born lucky enough to come into this world with an expanded consciousness that is never diluted by the thoughtstorm of humanity that constantly surrounds us. But for most of us, we were born and raised utterly human, and one day realize there is a whole new dimension of life and thought that we can incorporate into our mundane humanity.
People speak of awakening and enlightenment. We hear stories of magnificent moments that struck a person to their soul and everything changed. I know of one who was struck by a great ball of light and instantly enlightened. I know one who is thoughtful and evolutionary, whose ideas have a firm foundation but are open to transformation. I know several who have always been aware of their otherworldly gifts, and were supported as they developed them. More than one good friend has taken the hard road, and not regretted it.
What's your story?
What gave birth to your interest in metaphysics? Was it an unsatisfied appetite for something more? Was it anger, was it love? Was it a need a change? Was it skepticism? Why are you here, and how was the road?
